Returns & Warranty Policy

Outboard Motors & Marine Equipment — All Sales Final

All outboard motors, engines, and marine equipment sales are final. Outboard motors, engines, generators, and electrical components cannot be returned or exchanged for any reason. These are specialized, high-value items that require controlled handling and storage conditions. Once a product leaves our facility, we cannot verify its condition or maintenance history.

Outboard Motor Sales is operated by Clay Powersports LLC, located at 615 West Lake Avenue, Celina, TN 38551.

Defective Products & Manufacturer Warranty

All new outboard motors sold by Outboard Motor Sales are covered by the original manufacturer's warranty. Warranty terms, coverage periods, and conditions are determined by the manufacturer (Yamaha, Honda, Mercury, Suzuki, Tohatsu, or Freedom).

Warranty service can be performed at any authorized dealer for the applicable brand nationwide. To find your nearest authorized dealer, visit the manufacturer's website and use their dealer locator tool.

If you need assistance with a warranty claim, you may also contact us at (931) 243-4555 or sales@outboardmotorsales.com and we will help coordinate with the manufacturer on your behalf.

Shipping Damage

Inspect your shipment at time of delivery. Before signing the carrier's delivery receipt:

  • Examine all packaging for visible damage
  • Note any damage clearly on the delivery receipt before signing
  • Take photos of all damage to packaging and product
  • Report damage to us within 3 calendar days of receipt by contacting (931) 243-4555 or sales@outboardmotorsales.com with your order number and photos

Do not discard any packaging materials until the freight damage claim is fully resolved. Failure to note damage at delivery or report within 3 days may limit our ability to file a claim with the carrier.

Shipping Policy

Order Processing

  • Handling Time: Orders are processed within 1–3 business days.
  • Order Cutoff: Orders placed after 2:00 PM CST will be processed the next business day.
  • Tracking: You will receive a tracking number via email once your order ships.

Shipping Method — XPO Freight

Outboard motors are shipped via XPO Logistics as LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight. XPO will contact you by phone to schedule a delivery appointment before arrival.

All freight deliveries are curbside only. The carrier will deliver the shipment to the curb or driveway at the delivery address. The carrier is not responsible for moving the product beyond the delivery vehicle.

Free Shipping

Free shipping applies only to portable outboard motors shipped to the contiguous United States (lower 48 states).

Free shipping does not apply to non-portable motors, parts, accessories, or shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories. Shipping for all other products is calculated at checkout based on weight and destination.

  • Portable Motor Transit Time: 3–7 business days
  • Total Estimated Delivery (Portable Motors): 4–10 business days

Lift Gate Service — $99 (Optional)

A lift gate is a hydraulic platform on the rear of the freight truck that lowers heavy items from the truck bed to ground level. Lift gate service is available as an optional add-on for $99.

Lift gate service is recommended if the delivery location does not have:

  • A loading dock
  • A forklift or unloading equipment
  • Enough capable helpers to safely unload the shipment from the truck

Residential deliveries often require lift gate service. However, lift gate service may not be necessary if you have sufficient help and equipment to unload the shipment safely.

Important: If lift gate service is required but not selected at checkout, the carrier may charge additional fees, delay delivery, or refuse delivery until the service is added.

Delivery Inspection & Freight Damage

You must inspect your shipment at the time of delivery. Before signing the carrier's delivery receipt:

  1. Examine all packaging for visible damage (dents, tears, punctures, water marks).
  2. If damage is present, note it clearly on the delivery receipt before signing.
  3. Take photos of all damage to the packaging and the product.
  4. Contact us within 3 calendar days of delivery at (931) 243-4555 or sales@outboardmotorsales.com to report the damage.
